Acupuncture

Whether your pet is slowing down due to arthritis, recovering from an injury, or experiencing ongoing pain or discomfort, acupuncture may offer an additional way to support their comfort, mobility, and quality of life.

Acupuncture is a therapeutic treatment that can be incorporated into a pet's overall care plan. Research suggests it may help improve circulation, stimulate nerves and muscles, support the body's natural pain-relieving mechanisms, and encourage the body's natural healing processes. Treatments are commonly used to support recovery from injury or surgery and to help pets with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions move more comfortably.

During treatment, very fine needles are placed at specific points on the body to stimulate targeted nerves, muscles, and connective tissues. Most pets tolerate acupuncture very well and often become relaxed during their appointments. Because your observations are an important part of the process, owners are involved throughout treatment and help us monitor changes in comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life at home.

Conditions That May Benefit From Acupuncture

Acupuncture may be recommended as part of a treatment plan for pets experiencing:

  • Osteoarthritis and other degenerative joint conditions

  • Orthopedic injuries

  • Soft tissue and muscular injuries

  • Mobility challenges

  • Chronic pain conditions

  • Recovery following orthopedic surgery

While some pets may experience improvement after a single treatment, acupuncture is most often performed as a series of appointments. Treatment recommendations are tailored to each pet based on their condition, response to therapy, and treatment goals.

Because every pet's needs are unique, acupuncture is not appropriate for every patient. Our team will review your pet's medical history, condition, and treatment goals to determine whether acupuncture may be a good fit.
