Imaging is an important part of veterinary medicine, providing valuable information that helps us diagnose disease, monitor ongoing conditions, and make the most informed treatment recommendations. At Back Bay Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to offer digital radiography, abdominal ultrasound, and echocardiography.
Radiographs (X-rays) are still images of the body that are excellent for evaluating the chest, abdomen, bones, joints, and teeth. They help identify conditions such as fractures, arthritis, heart enlargement, lung disease, intestinal blockages, and bladder stones.
Abdominal ultrasound uses sound waves to create real-time images of the abdominal organs, including the liver, spleen, kidneys, intestines, and urinary bladder. It provides a detailed evaluation of soft tissues, allows us to assess organ movement and function in real time, and can detect abnormalities that may not be visible on X-rays.
An echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) uses the same technology to evaluate the heart's structure, function, blood flow, and pressures. It is the gold standard for diagnosing and monitoring heart disease, helping us tailor treatment to your companion's specific condition.
